Eastern Promises Review
The movie opens up at a barber shop & something pretty disturbing erupts…..and that is only the first 3 minutes of the movie!!! A quiet movie with disturbing scenes, hidden agendas & yummy Viggo man candy. Ladies & some gentlemen
….we see ALL SIDES of Viggo….if you get my drift!!! Okay…focusing now….his character in the movie seems simple enough…a driver. Seems okay but can I ask you a question? How many drivers do you know cut off the fingertips of dead people!
Viggo gives a oscar worthy performance in this movie if I say so myself. His Russian & Ukrainian accents are absolutely amazing! I’m loving my Lord of the Rings man more & more.
The movie itself was very interesting & entertaining; a good mystery with lots of twists & turns. In this movie, not everything is what it seems. It really keeps you wondering. Naomi Watts plays a midwife, with emotional instability, who is trying to find the family for a infant that she has helped bring into the world. She tries to find clues with the help of a very special diary. All I can say is that opens up a can of very sour worms. She’s a little annoying in the movie b/c well…her character starts a lot of shit. Even I’m not that curious. Curiosity, as they say, killed the cat but please my cat lovers, do not cry, its only an expressin. I really really love cats! I just plan on purring for a long time.
My only true beef with the movie is the ending. Why is it so hard for movies to have an explosive ending. The ending really fell short. I kid you not, I heard so many,‘Is that it,’ in the movie theatre that I had to giggle a bit. I enjoyed the movie though & it had me going until the ending. The ending could have been so much better. I get the ideal they were trying to make but the outcome was still weak to say the least.
Do I recommend going? To see all of Viggo….yes! To see some very awesome real fight scenes….yes! A decent story line…yes!
