A truly gripping movie, Boys Don’t Cry is based on the true events of the life and death of Teena Brandon (Also known as Brandon Teena).  Hilary Swank gained her first academy award for her magnificient portrayal of Teena is this movie.  Different from everyone else, all she wanted to do was be herself but her being different didn’t fit well with others & they made sure that she knew that.
